About

ASHERAH was designed by Bob Perry who is well known for many performance cruisers. She may be built for speed but she is a cruiser through and through. Her easily driven hull form requires less energy to attain speeds comparable to heavier and beamier cruisers. Under sail, she will reel off the miles with uncommon ease. She is a freshwater only vessel and her last surveyor classified her to be in above average condition in 2019.

The unique Variable Geometry Rig of the Saga 35 means that the full sail inventory is only a furling line away. The genoa and jib are each set on their own roller-furling stay but unlike a cutter rig, the two headsails are not meant to be set at the same time. The self-tacking jib is for upwind sailing and heavy winds, and the larger genoa is for off-wind angles. With the self-tacking jib, you can tack upwind without touching the sheets.

There is plenty of storage in the cockpit. To port of the helm which has a folding wheel is a propane locker for two large tanks. The cockpit lazarette is deep allowing for massive amounts of storage with steps to get in and out. To starboard there is a vented locker for carrying a fuel can. The cockpit features long seats for stargazing. There is a walkout transom with a sliding door that closes off the opening. Molded-in foot braces make the crew comfortable even when heeled. There are six opening stainless steel ports and four overhead hatches providing excellent ventilation.

Down below the interior is soft and cozy. All joinery is hand crafted, hand rubbed, and satin varnished in cherry wood. Soft fabrics give the cabin a luxurious feel. As with the Saga 43, the narrow beam is not evident below as the 35 is styled with the same principles as her larger sister. The high headroom and open concept saloon is both practical and efficient for offshore sailing and dockside entertaining. The navigation chart table and electrical panel are at the end of the starboard settee. Behind the fold-down panel, the wiring is meticulously and impressively executed.

The galley is U-shaped with a three burner stove in center. There is plenty of counter space, a cleverly opening ice box with refrigeration and lots of shelves and drawers for storage. The galley has a foot pump and hot and cold pressure water. The aft cabin is located on the starboard side of the boat. This cabin offers great standing headroom in the area immediately in front of the bunk and one cedar lined hanging locker.

The V berth is very roomy. The 52 inch wide bunk is 6 feet 4 inches at its shortest point and 7 feet 6 inches at its longest point. Deep long shelves run along the hull and there is a large cedar-lined hanging locker. A small cushioned bench beside the bunk is stylish, and doubles as a good seat for those getting dressed.

The head is accessed through the saloon or the V-berth which helps maintain some privacy when there are guests on board. The head is equipped with a standard sink, toilet, large mirror, and a roomy cupboard for storage. The head module is a one-piece molded fiberglass shell, designed with minimum trim or dirt catching corners, providing a seamless sanitary unit that is a cinch to clean.

While under sail she boasts athletic numbers with stability and performance. She has an intentional performance edge which will take you to places near and far with stability, confidence and sheer joy. ASHERAH awaits your inspection. You will soon fall in love with her and find yourself behind her helm, ready to cast off to visit the destinations of your dreams.

Testimonials

George Ayers was terrific to work with over the past few months as I evaluated, negotiated and purchased a CS 30 that Harris & Ellis Yachts had listed in Sarnia. He was patient, thorough and totally professional. I have owned nine sailboats in my 50+ years as a sailor. My experience with George and Harris & Ellis Yachts has been my best boat buying experience to date.

George did an amazing job of selling our CS 30 sailboat. A caring and compassionate person, he went above and beyond our expectations and never stopped working on our behalf to get the job done. We are forever grateful for his dedication to his work. Please let him know how much we think of him!

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Greg. Last October, my husband suddenly passed away due to a heart attack, leaving behind two boats. Greg was instrumental in helping me sell the first boat quickly and at a very good price. As for the second boat, due to my husband's declining health in his final year, the boat had been sitting idle at the dock near our home for over a year. Greg demonstrated the utmost professionalism in cleaning, maintaining, and preparing the boat for sale. He put in a tremendous amount of work, understanding the niche market for this boat, and always kept me informed of his progress without burdening me with the stress of the process. Last week, Greg successfully sold the second boat, and I am very satisfied with the price achieved. His professionalism and confidence in his work gave me a much-needed sense of security during such a difficult time.

Thank you for all your work in facilitating the sale of our dad's boat. Jake and I really appreciate all the hard work you put into it with the many visits, paperwork, etc. A special mention has to go out to Grant for teaching me how to fold the sails!

As first-time boat buyers and as foreigners wanting to buy a cruising catamaran in the US, we knew we needed a reliable broker that had our best interests in mind. John Heintzman was just that, and more! He was extremely committed to understanding what we were looking for, gave great advice, and guided us through the purchase process with great patience and knowledge. All in all, we felt very well taken care of.

I feel compelled to reach out about the absolutely wonderful experience that I have had with Grant and Patricia Bowlby. I completed the purchase of a boat yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. They were so helpful, kind, and patient. This was my first experience with a broker, and I think I’ve found the best.

I can’t thank Ewan Campbell enough for the super job he did in selling G, making up for my lack of experience in this realm and patiently searching for just the right buyer and a win-win for seller and buyer alike.

It was a wonderful experience selling A with Jeff Cole’s expert assistance. Thank you for simplifying a complicated process. Your patience and kindness are especially appreciated.

I just wanted to thank Jeff Cole for all his hard work. He was very professional and effective.
