About

You will be hard-pressed to find a better-maintained, two-owner freshwater-only Nonsuch 30 Ultra than DUCK SOUP. She has always had the utmost in care, upgrades and improvements and her owner's attention to detail is exceptionally evident when you are invited on board.

Recent upgrades include Stainless Outfitters swim platform and davits, new Raymarine depthmeter, 5 new marine deep cycle batteries, improved stateroom LED lighting with USB ports, new topping lift hardware, new anchor chain/poly combination rode with 50' chain, and new winter cover aluminum frame. 350W of solar panel power provides full electrical self-sufficiency at anchor - no to need to run the engine ever.

The Ultra model added a unique dimension to the Nonsuch line and modern day sailing by adding the comfort of a more traditional interior, while still maintaining the competitive sailing advantages specific to the Cat-rigged design. The long waterline permits higher pointing ability than one sail would normally allow, while allowing the convenience of tacking by a turn of the wheel giving the racer in you an advantage. The fin keel and spade rudder also does away with the windward helm characteristic of some Cape Cod catboats.

With a free standing mast situated at the bow, the interior volume of a Nonsuch is 20% to 30% larger when compared to other 30 ft. sailboats. DUCK SOUP has been updated, upgraded, and meticulously maintained since she was first splashed in 1987.

She will sleep 5 and features a separate forward stateroom with a full sized double bunk to port. A full length hanging locker, vanity and ample storage area, including drawers and shelves, are incorporated in this stateroom. The head is forward and to Starboard, and has a separate shower stall in the head with a seat. The galley is located on the portside approximately amidships and is L-shaped. The main salon sleeps three; two on a convertible dining table, and one on the port settee. The richness of the interior is accented with a teak and holly sole, yet remains airy with a total of 7 opening ports and three overhead hatches that are all equipped with screens. For the numerous upgrades and additions, please consult the detailed listing.

This Nonsuch 30 Ultra is ideal for cruising into the waters of Georgian Bay, the North Channel, 1000 Islands or even the Florida Keys. If you are in the market for a well-kept 30 Ultra, then you simply must consider a long and hard look at DUCK SOUP. She is certain not to disappoint you.

Testimonials

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Greg. Last October, my husband suddenly passed away due to a heart attack, leaving behind two boats. Greg was instrumental in helping me sell the first boat quickly and at a very good price. As for the second boat, due to my husband's declining health in his final year, the boat had been sitting idle at the dock near our home for over a year. Greg demonstrated the utmost professionalism in cleaning, maintaining, and preparing the boat for sale. He put in a tremendous amount of work, understanding the niche market for this boat, and always kept me informed of his progress without burdening me with the stress of the process. Last week, Greg successfully sold the second boat, and I am very satisfied with the price achieved. His professionalism and confidence in his work gave me a much-needed sense of security during such a difficult time.

Thank you for all your work in facilitating the sale of our dad's boat. Jake and I really appreciate all the hard work you put into it with the many visits, paperwork, etc. A special mention has to go out to Grant for teaching me how to fold the sails!

As first-time boat buyers and as foreigners wanting to buy a cruising catamaran in the US, we knew we needed a reliable broker that had our best interests in mind. John Heintzman was just that, and more! He was extremely committed to understanding what we were looking for, gave great advice, and guided us through the purchase process with great patience and knowledge. All in all, we felt very well taken care of.

I feel compelled to reach out about the absolutely wonderful experience that I have had with Grant and Patricia Bowlby. I completed the purchase of a boat yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. They were so helpful, kind, and patient. This was my first experience with a broker, and I think I’ve found the best.

I can’t thank Ewan Campbell enough for the super job he did in selling G, making up for my lack of experience in this realm and patiently searching for just the right buyer and a win-win for seller and buyer alike.

It was a wonderful experience selling A with Jeff Cole’s expert assistance. Thank you for simplifying a complicated process. Your patience and kindness are especially appreciated.

I just wanted to thank Jeff Cole for all his hard work. He was very professional and effective.
