About

This Islander Freeport is such a rare combination of beauty, elegance, charm and utility that its hard to imagine who might have come up with such a design other than Bob Perry. DOTTIE SQUIBB was built by Islander Yachts in 1977. Her design was well ahead of her time and includes a deck salon, a huge T-Shaped cockpit, a raised helm seat, a walk-through transom and a mid-ships Pullman berth. She has a very favourable 2021 survey and has been lovingly and cleverly refitted and restored over the last 10 years by her current owner.

In the cockpit, her roomy comfort and practicality absolutely shine. She has a fold down swim step on the stern which doubles as a place for the helmsman to steer. Winches are double speed and self-tailing. There are 4 lazarettes with storage, one of which is a nicely done propane locker. She boasts a newer set of full electronics that interface with each other using NMEA 2000 technology. She also has a new Lofrans electric anchor windlass with remote and chain link counter. To top it all off, there is new cockpit canvas on order to be delivered in Spring 2022.

Her galley is to port when you come down the large companionway. It is extremely functional and boasts a pullout 4-burner propane stove, newer refrigeration, a microwave and relatively good counter space. To starboard is a comfortable nav station and electrical center.

The salon is an inviting place for lounging, dining, and visiting and allows for plenty of natural daylight. If you are a tall person, you probably will not bump your head or have to stoop. Settees on this boat are wide enough to be comfortable, and there is a fold-down dining table. To access the storage behind the cushions on the settees, one has to remove only the lower part of the cushion, for instance. That adds convenience that only someone who has had to haul cushions around a small cabin can appreciate.

Engine access is through the sole in the salon, and the panels easy to remove. Engine access is very good and shows off her 5-year-old Beta diesel engine.

DOTTIE SQUIBB is the popular Plan B model that offers captains quarters that most 36 foot boats only dream of having. Just ahead of the salon is the huge owners cabin with a generous double berth to port, complete with drawer storage underneath. To starboard there are double cedar lined hanging lockers, one deeper than the other due to the hull shape.

The forward area of the boat is entirely given over to the head which is huge. There is plenty of room to shower and there are two shelves to port that do make good extra storage. The counter to starboard takes the full length of this cabin and could double as a nice workshop. Fortunately there is a hatch in this space so you can let all the steam escape.

With a design provenance like Perry, you know this is a sweet sailing boat. This is a lot of boat in a 37.5 foot package and its no wonder that these are so popular. Its evident that this boat has been loved and she would be perfect for a couple looking to do some serious cruising.

Testimonials

George Ayers was terrific to work with over the past few months as I evaluated, negotiated and purchased a CS 30 that Harris & Ellis Yachts had listed in Sarnia. He was patient, thorough and totally professional. I have owned nine sailboats in my 50+ years as a sailor. My experience with George and Harris & Ellis Yachts has been my best boat buying experience to date.

George did an amazing job of selling our CS 30 sailboat. A caring and compassionate person, he went above and beyond our expectations and never stopped working on our behalf to get the job done. We are forever grateful for his dedication to his work. Please let him know how much we think of him!

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Greg. Last October, my husband suddenly passed away due to a heart attack, leaving behind two boats. Greg was instrumental in helping me sell the first boat quickly and at a very good price. As for the second boat, due to my husband's declining health in his final year, the boat had been sitting idle at the dock near our home for over a year. Greg demonstrated the utmost professionalism in cleaning, maintaining, and preparing the boat for sale. He put in a tremendous amount of work, understanding the niche market for this boat, and always kept me informed of his progress without burdening me with the stress of the process. Last week, Greg successfully sold the second boat, and I am very satisfied with the price achieved. His professionalism and confidence in his work gave me a much-needed sense of security during such a difficult time.

Thank you for all your work in facilitating the sale of our dad's boat. Jake and I really appreciate all the hard work you put into it with the many visits, paperwork, etc. A special mention has to go out to Grant for teaching me how to fold the sails!

As first-time boat buyers and as foreigners wanting to buy a cruising catamaran in the US, we knew we needed a reliable broker that had our best interests in mind. John Heintzman was just that, and more! He was extremely committed to understanding what we were looking for, gave great advice, and guided us through the purchase process with great patience and knowledge. All in all, we felt very well taken care of.

I feel compelled to reach out about the absolutely wonderful experience that I have had with Grant and Patricia Bowlby. I completed the purchase of a boat yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. They were so helpful, kind, and patient. This was my first experience with a broker, and I think I’ve found the best.

I can’t thank Ewan Campbell enough for the super job he did in selling G, making up for my lack of experience in this realm and patiently searching for just the right buyer and a win-win for seller and buyer alike.

It was a wonderful experience selling A with Jeff Cole’s expert assistance. Thank you for simplifying a complicated process. Your patience and kindness are especially appreciated.

I just wanted to thank Jeff Cole for all his hard work. He was very professional and effective.
