About
Trafalgar is a custom-built steel sedan trawler. Her hull design and construction are based on Great Lakes commercial fishing boats. Her builder was a master boat builder who also worked as an instructor teaching boat building at a local Toronto college. Trafalgar was completed and launched in 1999 after approximately 7000 hours of loving labour.
For ease of handling, Trafalgar has both hydraulic bow and stern thrusters that complement her 115 hp Perkins 6.345 diesel engine. At a cruising speed of 6-7 knots, she burns about a gallon per hour and has a range of almost 2000 miles.
As one enters her spacious aft deck from her large swim platform, one enters the salon through a sliding patio door. One is immediately dazzled by her interior woodwork that definitely appears to be professionally done. Her gorgeous Cherrywood interior was all milled from cherry trees on the builders property. The caning on all storage cupboard doors is absolutely stunning. Her salon has two 7-foot couches (one on either side) and a lovely entertainment centre aft and to port making for a great relaxation and conversation area. Her reverse air A/C system only adds to the overall comfort.
One moves forward from the salon and finds a very complete and well-equipped aft-facing galley. On the forward side of this area are a beautiful and large centerline dinette area and the lower helm to starboard with a side sliding door.
Taking the stairs down on the port side leads one to the large walk-around master queen stateroom and plenty of personal storage. To starboard of this area is a large head area with walk-in shower and on the aft side is a walk-down area that has an athwartships queen bed in the guest stateroom.
Heading back up to the galley area, one can take stairs on the port side to the flybridge. It is a very large area with the upper helm station and enough extra space to set up an outside eating/entertainment area. On the aft end of the flybridge is an extended hardtop for the aft deck that stores the dinghy on chocks. The side rails to that area can be turned into a gin pole with electric winch for raining and lowering the dinghy.
Trafalgar is a must-see, turnkey coastal cruiser that is a great live-aboard and/or Looper and will comfortably and safely take her family on long voyages.
