About

Nauticats were originally built by Siltala Yachts in Finland but the name was changed in 2005 to Nauticat Yachts Oy which was the name of their primary yacht range. The yard was situated 40 kilometers from the city of Turku in southwest Finland. The company built yachts for over 45 years and when they went out of business in 2018, they had built close to 2500 Nauticats with the first Nauticat being delivered in 1966. These vessels are all of high-end hand constructed and definitely blue-water capable made to take their owners anywhere they wish to go. No core material was used; only solid fiberglass construction throughout so there are no issues with the teak decks. The 33 was one of the more successful models for this company with 1160 vessels built in a couple of different layouts and keel configurations.

This particular vessel is in above average condition and has benefitted from good owners who have maintained her to a high standard. The fact that she is a Freshwater-only boat has helped her to stay in far better overall condition that the vast majority of her sisterships. Two decent cabins, relaxing saloon, bright and comfortable wheelhouse, well-equipped galley, reliable engine, and an easily handled sail plan make this boat an ideal couples cruising yacht suitable for the rigours faced when cruising our beautiful coastline and islands.

As with the majority of Scandinavian built boats, both the cabinet work and insulation is superb. The boat is extremely comfortable from the well-upholstered berth cushions and angle of saloon upholstery. The wheelhouse can be entered from either side by sliding doors. The panoramic views make this a very pleasant place to sit while on passage or at anchor. Forced air heating throughout the cabins from the Espar diesel furnace makes the boat very cozy on those coolish and damp days. There are seating areas to the rear of either side of the aft cabin entrance and an occasional table to port for having a cup of tea or doing the crossword. The helm position is central allowing all-round visibility. Large custom heavy-duty roof hatches allow extra light and ventilation on warm days. Chart storage to the port of helm with Perspex chart holder.

Moving aft is the owners cabin with double Pullman berth, reading lights, good ventilation and plentiful storage everywhere. This version of the 33 has a more livable layout in the aft-cabin with the aft head area replaced with a seating area and a hanging locker.

Forward of the wheelhouse is the main saloon with comfortable dinette to port and linear galley to starboard. The seating area converts to a large double or can be used as a single. There is storage in hull mounted cupboards and beneath the settees. There is lots of cupboard storage for provisions. Moving forward is the head compartment to port. Opposite the forward head is a large hanging locker and in the bow is the front cabin with V-berth.

Her Ford Lehman engine is immaculate and her Max-Prop propeller moves her effortlessly under power. Her inventory of new and nearly sails move her splendidly under wind power. With her excellent navigation package, safety equipment and handy extras, this is a "sailaway" boat that requires little preparation before setting sail on new adventures.

Testimonials

George Ayers was terrific to work with over the past few months as I evaluated, negotiated and purchased a CS 30 that Harris & Ellis Yachts had listed in Sarnia. He was patient, thorough and totally professional. I have owned nine sailboats in my 50+ years as a sailor. My experience with George and Harris & Ellis Yachts has been my best boat buying experience to date.

George did an amazing job of selling our CS 30 sailboat. A caring and compassionate person, he went above and beyond our expectations and never stopped working on our behalf to get the job done. We are forever grateful for his dedication to his work. Please let him know how much we think of him!

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Greg. Last October, my husband suddenly passed away due to a heart attack, leaving behind two boats. Greg was instrumental in helping me sell the first boat quickly and at a very good price. As for the second boat, due to my husband's declining health in his final year, the boat had been sitting idle at the dock near our home for over a year. Greg demonstrated the utmost professionalism in cleaning, maintaining, and preparing the boat for sale. He put in a tremendous amount of work, understanding the niche market for this boat, and always kept me informed of his progress without burdening me with the stress of the process. Last week, Greg successfully sold the second boat, and I am very satisfied with the price achieved. His professionalism and confidence in his work gave me a much-needed sense of security during such a difficult time.

Thank you for all your work in facilitating the sale of our dad's boat. Jake and I really appreciate all the hard work you put into it with the many visits, paperwork, etc. A special mention has to go out to Grant for teaching me how to fold the sails!

As first-time boat buyers and as foreigners wanting to buy a cruising catamaran in the US, we knew we needed a reliable broker that had our best interests in mind. John Heintzman was just that, and more! He was extremely committed to understanding what we were looking for, gave great advice, and guided us through the purchase process with great patience and knowledge. All in all, we felt very well taken care of.

I feel compelled to reach out about the absolutely wonderful experience that I have had with Grant and Patricia Bowlby. I completed the purchase of a boat yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. They were so helpful, kind, and patient. This was my first experience with a broker, and I think I’ve found the best.

I can’t thank Ewan Campbell enough for the super job he did in selling G, making up for my lack of experience in this realm and patiently searching for just the right buyer and a win-win for seller and buyer alike.

It was a wonderful experience selling A with Jeff Cole’s expert assistance. Thank you for simplifying a complicated process. Your patience and kindness are especially appreciated.

I just wanted to thank Jeff Cole for all his hard work. He was very professional and effective.
